Wirework Description: Students will connect pieces by riveting -- no fire, no glue, just you and your hammer! Create this fun bracelet using metal texturing, stamping, and a combination of riveting techniques. Students will also explore some different methods for antiquing and coloring metal. Additional session on Friday, June 7th,(B131793).
Students will Learn: Riveting, metal texturing and stamping techniques; explore different methods for antiquing and coloring metal.
Project will be completed in class.
At least 16 years old.
Supplies to Bring: Bench block, fine-tip marker, flush-cut wire cutters, hammer, ruler, work surface. riveting hammer, rubber gloves, five pieces of paper toweling, Pro-polish pads. Optional: Metal shears; metal file; two-hole, twist-down punch (small 1.80 mm); large wrap and tap pliers; plastic mallet; small metal letter and design stamps; extra charms and spacers; 24-gauge sheet (sterling silver or silver-filled metal).
Pliers: Chainnose without grooves, flatnose without grooves, long roundnose.
Materials in Kit: Copper sheet, jump rings, and wire; brass and nickel sheet; spacers; rivets; assorted base metal charms (kits will vary).
