Description: Yes, you can incorporate large-gauge wire into your lineup of wire jewelry! The process includes annealing, forging, and forming -- and it will open your eyes to endless possibilities in the world of wire. Additional session offered Friday, June 7 (B131784).
 
Students will Learn: How to anneal the metal, then bend, form, and forge it into pleasing shapes; how to make a swirled earring wire; proper hammering techniques.
 
Project will be completed in class.
 
At least 16 years old.
 
Supplies to Bring: Bench block, bench block pad, chasing hammer, flush-cut wire cutters, jeweler's saw, metal files, permanent marker (pointed), quick-grip clamp, rawhide hammer, safety glasses, tape measure, terry-cloth towel, vice, work surface, heavy-duty, flat parallel pliers, helicopter punch.
 
Pliers: Flatnose standard, standard roundnose.
 
Materials in Kit: Large and medium square copper wire; sterling silver wire.
 
Limit: One seat per person per class.
