Metalwork Description: Take your torch-enameling skills in a new direction with the Champleve technique by capturing opaque glass in recessed areas of etched copper. Come and learn how easy it is to create custom pieces that reflect your personal style; the only French you'll need to know for this session is “tres magnifique!” Additional session offered Wednesday, June 5 (B131778).
Students will Learn: How to etch designs; the ins-and-outs of wet-packing enamels; how to finish a design.
Prerequisites: Students should feel comfortable working with a torch, small details, and multiple processes at once. While not a requirement, taking the instructor’s basic torch-enameling class can support this class experience.
Project will be completed in class.
At least 16 years old.
Supplies to Bring: Safety glasses, terry-cloth towel, paper, pen.
Materials in Kit: Students have access to all of the tools and materials (including metal, enamels, and more) needed to produce enameled components for jewelry.
