Description: Make a mixed-media masterpiece using techniques for transferring images to polymer clay and using economical, torch-fired fine-silver metal clay. Enhance your creative skill set with several techniques that can be used, in combination or independently, to make high-end jewelry creations.



 
Students will Learn: To create a detailed, torched-fired metal clay framework and to make photo-quality image transfers onto polymer clay. Students will also learn techniques for basic millefiori cane construction, making decorative striped borders, adding optional crystal accents, and working with quick-cure resin for a glass-like finish.


 
Project will be completed in class.
 
At least 18 years old.
 
Supplies to Bring: Craft knife, metal clay (10 g low-fire Art Clay Silver), metal clay tools, metal files, needle tool, pasta machine, roller/brayer, scissors, tissue-slicing blade, wire snips, three 2 oz. bars of polymer clay: one white, one black, third color is student choice (all the same brand: Fimo soft or classic recommended, no Sculpey III), baby wipes, 6-in .x 6-in. (or larger) smooth-ceramic tile, 2 large C clamps, rubber work block, Teflon paper, small acrylic roller, wire brush, metal burnisher, cosmetic sponge, plastic wrap, deck of playing cards, black permanent marker. Optional: magnifiers.
 
Pliers: Chainnose without grooves, small flatnose.
 
Materials in Kit: Crystal dangle kit, framing texture stamp, resin sample, image transfer sampler, decorative jump rings, silver plated chain, toggle set, micro sanding papers, plain jump rings. Portions of kit underwritten by The Great Create.
