Metalwork Description: Learn Melissa's design for constructing a vertical etching tank, as featured in Art Jewelry magazine, and etch copper washers. Use the washers to create flared frames and explore different ways to make cabochons that include Faux Bone, leather, metal, felt, glass, and Swarovski rivolis. Students will Learn: How to construct a vertical etching tank, different resist methods for etching, and flaring copper washers into frames, Students will create cabochons for the frames, rivet the frames to backing disks, and construct jewelry using the frames.
Project will be completed in class.
At least 18 years old.
Supplies to Bring: Bench block, chasing hammer. Optional: 17 mm Swarovski Elements rivoli.
Pliers: Chainnose, flush side-cutting, standard roundnose.
Materials in Kit: Supplies for six frames: jump rings, chain, wire, fabric, leather, felt, metal disks.
