Description: Create these spectacular earrings while learning the secrets of electro-etching metal without using corrosive acids or messy chemicals. Get hands-on experience using simple equipment that can easily and safely be set up and used in your home studio.
 
Students will Learn: Techniques and information to electro-etch copper, brass, bronze, nickel silver, aluminum, and silver depending on the electrolyte used. Advantages of electro-etching include: no dangerous gases or fumes are created during the process, the etching is repeatable when conditions are held constant, the electrolyte solutions do not become exhausted and do not need to be refreshed, and the etched silver may be easily and completely recovered from the electrolyte.
 
Project will be completed in class.
 
At least 18 years old.
 
Supplies to Bring: Safety glasses. Optional: Optivisors.
 
Materials in Kit: All components for the earrings, instructions.
 
Limit: One seat per person per class.
