Polymer Description: Develop your own rich and luscious color palettes, and learn how an adaptation of an ancient metalsmithing technique can be used to build eye-catching polymer pendants of all shapes and sizes. The class will cover finishing techniques that include shaping, sanding, and polishing, as well as accents using polymer or metal drops. Additional session offered Saturday, June 7 (B131779).
Students will Learn: How to custom mix and stack layers of polymer clay, imprint a unique pattern using square or rectangular metal tubes, and then slice the stack to create multiple focal beads. At least one focal bead will be sanded, polished, drilled, and strung on a hammered wire bail with optional hanging accents and a polymer square.
Project will be completed in class.
At least 16 years old.
Supplies to Bring: Pasta machine, roller/brayer, work surface.
Pliers: Flush end-cutting, standard flatnose, standard roundnose.
Materials in Kit: 16-gauge brass or copper wire, polymer clay, tissue blade, metal accents, ceramic beads. A portion of the kit is underwritten by Polyform.
