Description: A beginner class introducing the same techniques used in chasing repousse, but on a smaller level without the pitch and hammering. Using copper wire rivets, you will attach your creation to a hammered brass blank.
 
Students will Learn: How to push and pull the metal to create a raised lilly flower design from both sides of the copper foil, then connect it with rivets to a textured brass base. You will also learn how to saw, texture, pierce metal, and finish metal.
 
Project will be completed in class.
 
At least 18 years old.
 
Supplies to Bring: Anvil, ball-peen hammer, fine-tip marker, jeweler's saw, metal files, pen, scissors, needle file set, mouse pad. Optional: Optivisors.
 
Pliers: Chainnose without grooves, flatnose without grooves, flush side-cutting.
 
Materials in Kit: Copper foil and round wire; brass sheet; design and shape templates; embossing tool set; dental tool with point; hard surface pad; red buff; liver of sulfur; sandpaper; wood filler; tape; .005-in. saw blades; pickling solution; butane fuel; handout.
 
Limit: One seat per person per class.
