Soldering

 
Description: Searching for the perfect focal bead? Create three types of beads: one featuring stamped and dapped bead caps, one made of dapped metal domes, and one with soldered dapped pieces.
 
Students will Learn: Metalworking techniques including sawing, tube riveting, filing, stamping and texturing metal, soldering with paste solder, finishing, and polishing.
 
Prerequisites: Basic metalworking experience is helpful but not required.
 
Project will be completed in class.
 
At least 18 years old.
 
Supplies to Bring: Bench block, bench pin, chasing hammer, flush-cut wire cutters, jeweler's saw, permanent marker (pointed), metal dapping block, brass head mallet or other hammer for stamping and dapping, center punch, riveting hammer. Optional: Reading glasses, disk cutter (instructor will have some to share).

 
Pliers: Chainnose. Optional: Power punch pliers (instructor will have some to share).
 
Materials in Kit: Patterned copper and brass sheet, anodized aluminum sheet, riveting tube, beads to cap, copper and sterling silver blanks. The instructor will provide use of all soldering tools and supplies in class.
 
Limit: One seat per person per class.
