June 8 • 9:00am-5:00pm (with 2 hr. break) - (6 hours)Level: Advanced Maximum Class Size: 16 Class Fee: $270.00  Metal Clay Description: This stunning ring reflects the new metal clay interpretation of an ancient technique, Mokume-Gane. The alternating stack of silver and copper clay is carved to reveal a gorgeous wood grain pattern. Students will Learn: The proper ratios and techniques to successfully combine silver and copper clay; how to form a seamless ring band; carving in the Guri Bori fashion; polishing for a glass-like finish. Prerequisites: Advanced metal clay experience required. Project will not be completed in class. At least 16 years old. Supplies to Bring: Stepped ring mandrel with stand, ruler, snake roller, roller, underlay, graduated slat set, small pointed paint brush, cutter/scraper, water mister, craft knife, Burt's Bees or similar hand salve, rubber block, brass brush, polishing cloth. Materials in Kit: 20g Art Clay Silver, 50g Art Clay Copper, wedge silicon shaper, ring sizer, large coarse metal file, sanding sponge set, wet/dry sandpaper, polishing papers, Baldwin's patina. The instructor will provide Art Clay Silver 650 syringe, scale, plastic wrap, olive oil, firing supplies, mallet, and steel mandrel for use in class. Limit: One seat per person per class. |
