Metalwork Description: Create raised textures in metal and seal in layers of beautiful, transparent enamel color to make custom pendants, charms, and earrings. Learn two great techniques in one class.
Students will Learn: How to use tools for texture and raised dots; the basics of torch-fired enameling including how to use a butane cooking torch, safety considerations, application of enamels, and firing techniques.
Project will be completed in class.
At least 12 years old.
Supplies to Bring: Bench block, chasing hammer, paintbrush (fine), safety glasses, task lamp, terry-cloth towel. Students should bring the following items if they have them: Apron, didymium glasses or glasses with calobar lenses. Optional: Magnifiers.
Materials in Kit: Enamels, copper pieces, silver foil, butane, mask, handout, enameling tool for use in class. Instructor will supply the tools for students to use in class.
Limit: One seat per person per class.
