Glass and Lampworking Description: This class will focus on a variety of unique techniques designed to teach the student how to skillfully embellish the surface of a lampworked bead. The extremely small student-to-teacher ratio will allow students to work at their own pace while receiving individualized instruction. Class involves the use of a torch with open flame and gases. Wear safety (didymium) glasses, cotton clothing, and closed-toe shoes. Tie long hair back. Additional session offered Saturday, June 8 (B131672).
Students will Learn: A variety of unique techniques that includes raised dots, plunged dots, encased dots; how to pull and apply consistent stringers to create beautiful surface embellishments; application and layering of color.
Prerequisites: Beginning glass-bead making class or prior lampworking instruction.
Project will not be completed in class.
At least 18 years old.
Supplies to Bring: Small reclosable bags, didymium glasses or clear non-tinted safety glasses, metal soup can.
Materials in Kit: Moretti glass rods, dichroic glass, silver foil. Instructor will provide basic lampworking tools for use in class.
