Wirework Description: Using sheets of etched copper, brass, and nickel, students will create three pairs of earrings in various shapes and sizes. These mixed-metal pieces also include crystals, pearls, and drilled stones.
Students will Learn: How to cut, file, and attach metal using cold connections and wire-wrapping techniques.
Project will be completed in class.
At least 16 years old.
Supplies to Bring: 6-in. ruler, bench block, chasing hammer, metal files, permanent marker (pointed), safety glasses, tin snips. work gloves, center punch. Optional: Jeweler’s saw with blades, wax.
Pliers: Chainnose without grooves, flatnose without grooves, flush side-cutting, long roundnose.
Materials in Kit: Earring wires, jump rings, head pins, pieces of etched metal, rippled copper sheet, drilled beach stones, crystals, pearls, nuts, bolts.
Limit: One seat per person per class.
