Wirework Description: Learn to apply basic jewelry techniques to niobium sheet and wire, then take your created pieces and colorfully anodize them. Use cold connections to turn your new pieces into beautiful, wearable jewelry.
Students will Learn: How to saw, drill, shape, file, and sand niobium sheet and wire; anodizing techniques; cold connections.
Project will be completed in class.
At least 16 years old.
Supplies to Bring: Accent beads, ball-peen hammer, bench block, fine-tip marker, flush-cut wire cutters, jeweler's saw and blades, metal files, safety glasses, task lamp.
Pliers: Chainnose without grooves, nylon-jaw wire straightener, standard roundnose.
Materials in Kit: Niobium sheet, niobium wire in several gauges, pre-made niobium earring wires and head pins.
Limit: One seat per person per class.
