Description: Students will learn a new, innovative, and cutting edge method to create die cuts from metal, and repousse and emboss a variety of patterns to create beautiful finished pieces. Use antiquing techniques to create your own metal relics, then apply brilliant coloring techniques, such as metal washes and crackling. You will layer components, explore positive and negative space, play with mixed-media materials, and attach components with simple riveting. Students will leave with a finished necklace pendant or a handful of mixed-media materials to use on journals or purses, or as wall decor.

 
Students will Learn: How to use a new die cutting tool; metalworking finishing techniques; how to use positive and negative space; how to rivet and apply a patina.
 
Project will be completed in class.
 
At least 16 years old.
 
Supplies to Bring: Anvil, anvil pillow, awl, bench pin, cutters, hammer, jeweler's saw, saw blades, metal files, rawhide hammer, rubber stamps, vice, small found or up-cycled objects.
 
Pliers: Chainnose, small flatnose, standard flatnose.
 
Materials in Kit: Bronze sheet metal; various gauges of bronze wire; brads; rivets; mixed-media materials: ribbon, paper images; Ice Resin. A portion of this kit is underwritten by Ice Resin.
 
Limit: One seat per person per class.
