General Seminar

 
Description: Learn the secrets of how to shoot your beads, jewelry, glass, and crafts with a professional photographer and glass artist. We’ll cover basic photography and how to set your camera’s menus. You’ll photograph your own pieces using lighting setups provided by the instructor. Additional sessions offered Friday, May 31 (B130791) and Wednesday, June 5 (B131606).
 
Students will Learn: See what aspects make a high quality photograph. Learn the language of studio photography to recognize top quality photographs and how to produce them. We’ll cover basic photography, the qualities of good lighting, composition, background materials, the proper use of an 18 percent gray card, how to set your camera’s menus, ISO, aperture, shutter speed, shooting mode, color balance and quality settings.
 
Project will be completed in class.
 
At least 16 years old.
 
Supplies to Bring: Paper, pen. DSLR camera with interchangeable lenses and manual exposure are recommended, a macro lens for the DSLR is helpful for small glass and jewelry items, 16-20+ art pieces to photograph. Point-and-shoot or fixed lens cameras without these features are inadequate, will not perform as needed for creating professional work, and are not recommended.
 
Materials in Kit: 18 percent gray card.
 
Limit: One seat per person per class.
