Techniques
Glass and Lampworking

 
Description: Come and learn basic techniques specific to creating handmade, lampworked beads. The extremely small student-to-teacher ratio will allow ample time for student experimentation on a Hot Head torch while providing individualized instruction. This class is designed to put the student on the fast track to success. Class involves the use of a torch with open flame and gases. Wear safety (didymium) glasses, cotton clothing, and closed-toe shoes. Tie long hair back. Additional session offered Wednesday, June 5 (B131020).
 
Students will Learn: How to form, shape, and decorate their beads with dots, stringers, spirals, and various other embellishment techniques. Students can expect to make a handful of beautiful beads.
 
Project will be completed in class.
 
At least 18 years old.
 
Supplies to Bring: Small reclosable bags, didymium glasses or clear non-tinted safety glasses, metal soup can.
 
Materials in Kit: Moretti glass rods and stringers, dichroic glass, silver foil. Instructor will provide basic lampworking tools for use in class.
 
Limit: One seat per person per class.
