Metalwork Description: Students will learn two different types of image transfer and etch metal using ferric chloride. Etched sheets can be used for incorporation into jewelry pieces or as texture plates for metal clay. Additional sessions on Wednesday evening, June 5 (B130417), and Friday evening, June 7 (B131712).
Students will Learn: The proper preparation of copper and brass for etching and techniques for transferring images to (or hand drawing on) the metal. They will also learn to safely set up and use ferric chloride as an etchant.
Project will be completed in class.
At least 18 years old.
Supplies to Bring: Task lamp, writing materials, Sharpie markers (thick and thin).
Materials in Kit: Copper and brass sheet metal, all etching consumables.
