Description: One of the most amazing things about polymer clay is its ability to imitate other substances. Students will make some of the most realistic looking polymer clay “wood” they can imagine. It is so easy to mimic wood grain pieces and make complex looking florals that are lighter and more versatile to wear than the real thing,

Students will Learn: Simple steps necessary to make sheets of faux wood; recipes for certain types of wood; how to vary the texture and grain; distress the sheets; use cutters and punches to create neatly stacked flower components.

Prerequisites: Prior polymer clay experience useful but not mandatory.

Project will be completed in class.

At least 16 years old.

Supplies to Bring: 10-in. x 10-in. work surface (smooth ceramic tile or tempered glass), pasta machine, acrylic roller, stiff slicing blade (Amaco or Kato Nublade), plastic container to transport project.

Materials in Kit: Polymer clay, flower-shaped cutters, accent pieces, Apoxie Sculpt, template, texture tools, adhesive, use of instructor’s tools, instructions.
