Peyote Stitch

Description: Originally used to adorn military uniforms, bridal veils, and clothing, soutache braid has made its way into the jewelry world. Combine braid and beads, then assemble into a soft bracelet, a hard cuff, or a fabulous barrette. Additional session offered Tuesday evening, June 4 (B130620) and Wednesday morning, June 5th (B131807).

Students will Learn: How to set a Swarovski crystal in beadwork; use beads and tiny stitches to make a lovely and easy jewelry piece; discussion on variations.

Project will not be completed in class.

At least 16 years old.

Supplies to Bring: #12 beading needles, beading mat, beading wax, E6000 adhesive, Fireline 6 lb. test, scissors, task lamp. Optional: Reading glasses.

Materials in Kit: 8/0, 11/0, 15/0 seed beads; soutache braid; Swarovski rivoli; fire-polished or Swarovski Czech coin beads; beading needles; velvet ribbon; brass cuff blank; ribbon crimp ends and clasp, or barrette blank (students can choose in class). A portion of this kit is underwritten by SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS & TOHO.
