Soldering Description: Create -- and wear home -- a unique “Inside-Out” ring with a set-in stone. Although you are making this ring from raw materials, no experience is necessary. Additional session on Wed, June 5th (B130959).
Students will Learn: Simple soldering techniques, forging and filing tips, “antiquing,” a secure way to set a stone in a channel, and polishing.
Project will be completed in class.
At least 16 years old.
Supplies to Bring: Bench block, chasing hammer, flush-cut wire cutters, hammer, rawhide hammer, metal ring mandrel, wide file.
Pliers: Flatnose nylon jaw, wrap and tap.
Materials in Kit: Wide sterling silver ring sheet, assorted AA grade gemstones, abrasive paper, Sharpie.
