Wirework Description: Make this fun leather ring using 10 mm wide flat leather (several colors from which to choose), sheet metal, and rivets. You will be able to make a few rings and will learn how to size and cut sheet metal, texture and paint the metal, make metal tabs, and then rivet everything together for this eye-catching ring. Additional session Friday evening, June 7 (B130888).
Students will Learn: Fabrication, riveting, oxidizing, painting or using Baroque paste, texturing.
Prerequisites: Knowledge in use of basic jewelry tools.
Project will be completed in class.
At least 16 years old.
Supplies to Bring: Awl, bench block, chasing hammer, flush-cut wire cutters, metal files, paintbrush (flat), permanent marker (pointed), plastic hammer, ruler, metal hole punch, riveting hammer, texturing hammer, metal shears, ring mandrel, blue painter's tape.
Pliers: Chainnose without grooves, standard flatnose, nylon-jaw wire straightener, standard roundnose.
Materials in Kit: Flat leather in your choice of color, rivets, wire, metal sheet.
