Description: Marcia will provide an environment and skills to create your own unique piece of beaded jewelry. Chunky bangles, to feminine pendants, show-stopping earrings, dangle ropes or elegant chokers will all be possibilities you can develop. A coordinated set of beads, pearls, and crystals from your kit will allow you to explore a large number of options. Several colorways will be available from bold to subdued. This workshop is held off site at the Milwaukee Area Technical College. Breakfast and lunch is included in the tuition as well as complimentary transportation to and from the college. Additional session Sunday-Tuesday, June 2nd-4th (B13B).
 
Students will Learn: Students will experience Marcia’s component based design process through a series of photographs and presentations which take a set of reusable components and shows them in many different design options, each with its own definite style. Marcia will discuss how playing with the piece to modify a component often results in compelling new design options. You will also discuss component connections to help guide you in bringing the design to a focused and cohesive piece. Students arrangements made during the design play will be digitally photographed and prints of your favorites will be available.
 
Prerequisites: Students must be proficient in the following stitches: ladder stitch, Ndebele herringbone, Peyote, right-angle weave.
 
Project will be completed in class.
 
At least 18 years old.
 
Supplies to Bring: Beading mat, needles, Fireline 6 lb. smoke and crystal or your preferred thread, scissors, task lamp. Optional: magnifiers if needed, camera or camera phone to photograph designs created while playing with possibilities.
 
Materials in Kit: Five gross of crystals including: 3 and 4 mm in two colors and 2 mm in one color; four gross of 3mm and 4 mm pearls; one-half gross 12 mm pearls in two colors; 8/0, 11/0, and 15/0 seed beads in two colors; 2 Tulip needles.
